About Geomattric

About Geomattric
Geomattric is a growing collection of original art created by Matt Riceman and his wife Jen, working from home in Nottinghamshire, England.
The most recent collection is Handspun: Matt’s exploration of line, rhythm, symmetry and movement, created by drawing and spinning lines by hand until hundreds of rings build into a single circular image. No two rings are identical, and the tiny wobbles are the point. Several of the Handspun designs have been selected for vinyl record slipmats, and some people use them as table placemats too.
Much of Matt's other work involves the camera and the computer. Most of the other collections start life as Matt’s photographs and are then digitally edited, pushed and recoloured until the original subject becomes pure colour and shape. Handspun Skew photographs the spun rings and pulls them off centre. Handspun Squares crops them into the corner of a canvas. Angles for Angels swaps curves for hard edges and flat, saturated colour block. Flora and Abstrakt take flowers, grasses, light and structure and push them until they become graphic. Compass is earlier work, with compass-drawn circles photographed and colour-enhanced, and the series that set the whole thing in motion. And Jen brings a completely different energy: bold, hand-painted naive art in colours that make you smile.

Our Story

Geomattric is the creative world of Matt Riceman — an artist, designer and lifelong explorer of shape, colour, pattern and visual ideas.
The story began with a fascination for turning simple geometric forms into something unexpected. Circles, lines, grids, symmetry and repetition became the building blocks for artwork that could be both precise and playful, often influenced by music, movement, nature and the visual world around us.
What started as an individual creative pursuit has grown into a continually evolving collection of original artwork. From the geometric energy of Handspun, to the organic forms of Flora and the expressive compositions of Abstrakt, each collection explores a different side of the Geomattric visual language.
The aim isn’t to follow a particular trend or reproduce what is already out there. It’s to create artwork with its own character — artwork that catches the eye, rewards a closer look and brings colour, personality and a sense of individuality to the spaces it occupies.
Today, Geomattric is evolving beyond the artwork itself, with selected designs being transformed into fine art prints, wall art and other products, allowing the work to find its way into homes, studios, workplaces and creative spaces.
And the story is still developing. Jen Riceman has recently begun contributing her own artwork to the Geomattric world, adding another creative voice while the original vision continues to grow.
This is Geomattric: original artwork, evolving ideas and a little bit of turning it up to eleven. We hope you enjoy the view...
